The Activity Centre needs your help.

The Denman Seniors and Museum Society really hates to ask for financial help, but time is of the essence. The Activity Centre is in need of a few dollars to fix the lighting in the gym. If you use the gym or have been there for an event, you will be aware that the lights are failing and we are hoping to replace them. However, we don’t have the money. And, we don’t need a lot. So we’re asking you to consider a donation towards this cause. Anything you can give would help, but to be honest we’re hoping that someone will step up with a generous donation. Our cost estimate ranges from $3000 for a minimal system or up to $7000 for a very good one. We are hoping that you, or someone you know who supports and possibly uses the Activity Centre, will contribute to this project.

Should you chose to give, please make out a cheque to the Denman Seniors and Museum Society with a note that it is toward the lighting in the gym (so that it won’t just go into our general revenue) and put it in the Seniors binder in the Freepost at Abraxas or mail it to DSMS at P.O. Box 28. You will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

We’d be very grateful for your help!

What’s happening at the Activity Centre?

The Annual General Meeting of the Denman Seniors and Museum Society (DSMS), also known as the Activity Centre, will be held on November 15th at 7:30 pm at the Activity Centre.  At this short meeting, you can hear about the events and work that have been happening over the past year.

The Easter Egg hunt, Taste of Denman, Table Tennis Tournament and the Christmas Craft Fair all feature prominently.  These are in addition to the many regularly scheduled events taking place, things like badminton, dance, yoga, poker, table tennis, pickleball, Seniors’ lunches and so much more.

The Museum has been modernized with new displays and lighting, along with a specialized exhibit over the summer.  Have you noticed the whale bone that hangs over the museum entrance?

Of course, the building requires constant attention and maintenance.  You will see the new roof at the entryway which will keep you dry on rainy days.  The yard has been cleaned up and a new path system connects us to local businesses.

The DSMS board hopes you’ll attend the AGM, hear all about us, perhaps join the board, volunteer for a task or event, or maybe open your wallet to donate to the latest project, which is to replace the lights in the gym.  Whatever your interest is, you’ll likely find it met here.  Membership in the Society costs only $10 and you can sign up on November 15th.  Refreshments will be served.  See you there!
