Grant Acknowledgement

The Denman Seniors and Museum Society (aka Activity Centre) wishes to publicly thank and acknowledge Dr. Tess Trueman and the Comox Valley Community Foundation (CVCF).

Dr. Tess Trueman, who played a major role in the creation of our Activity Centre facilities, created a Designated Fund with the CVCF. This fund provides for an annual grant to the Denman Seniors and Museum Society (DSMS). In fall of 2018, the first grant payment was awarded at the National Philanthropy Day Event – Fox and Jackie attended.

The grant of $2718 is very welcome and has been earmarked for fitness center equipment and building improvements in 2019.
In addition to the fitness center, DSMS manages and maintains, for use and benefit of our community: lounge, commercial kitchen, museum, gymnasium, and office space.

The Comox Valley Community Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that connects generous donors with the causes that matter most to them, in communities throughout the Comox Valley. It serves as a trusted community resource, addressing issues and leveraging opportunities. By astute management of a growing portfolio of permanent endowments, the Comox Valley Community Foundation uses investment earnings to provide grants to charitable agencies whose projects contribute to enriching lives in the region. What’s up DAC?

We’ve had a busy couple of months this unseasonably cold Spring and more events are on their way.  The 8th Annual Table Tennis Tournament was a fun event and raised a good amount for the Denman Community Land Trust Association. Easter Sunday’s BBQ tie in with the Easter Egg Hunt is always a favourite activity.

Pickleball is adding yet another session to their weekly play schedule – now on Monday afternoons as well as Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.  Of course, May 9th will see the Hall become Denman’s Voting Place for the Provincial Election.  And the RCMP’s community talk takes place in the Lounge on May 3rd.

By mid month, I am told the final installation of the new lighting in the Hall will be in place.

If you have anything you’d like to book, please give deNeen Baldwin a call at 250-335-3027.
