Seniors and Museum AGM Nov. 7 in Back Hall

Denman Seniors & Museum Society AGM

Yes, it’s that time again.  The Denman Seniors and Museum Society (the Activity Centre) is holding its AGM in the Back Hall on Wednesday, November 7th at 7:30 pm.

And, yes, we know going to meetings is boring, but really this is for a good cause.  We are a group of volunteers who run and manage the Activity Centre, which includes the Museum and Fitness Centre.  That’s not all.  It’s the place you play pickleball or table tennis, you might enjoy poker there, too.  Lots of other things take place there, things like meetings (oh, yes, those again), classes, the Christmas Craft Fair, the Easter hot dog barbeque, and most recently, the Auction.

So, what are we asking of you?  We’d love to know that we are supported in our work, that someone appreciates what we do and maybe even you might want to join us.  We are a small board with a big job, so the more hands, the easier the work.  If you decide to come onboard (and we hope you will), we won’t overwhelm you with meetings.  Just one a month and we keep them short.  But you will be joining a great group of folks who like to make a difference in the community.  You will have fun too!  We do.

If you have questions, email Roxanna at roxdoug@telus.net or call Jackie at 250.335.1110 or Fox at 250.335.0196.

See you on November 7th at 7:30 pm!

What’s up DAC?

We’ve had a busy couple of months this unseasonably cold Spring and more events are on their way.  The 8th Annual Table Tennis Tournament was a fun event and raised a good amount for the Denman Community Land Trust Association. Easter Sunday’s BBQ tie in with the Easter Egg Hunt is always a favourite activity.

Pickleball is adding yet another session to their weekly play schedule – now on Monday afternoons as well as Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.  Of course, May 9th will see the Hall become Denman’s Voting Place for the Provincial Election.  And the RCMP’s community talk takes place in the Lounge on May 3rd.

By mid month, I am told the final installation of the new lighting in the Hall will be in place.

If you have anything you’d like to book, please give deNeen Baldwin a call at 250-335-3027.
