Table Tennis Tournament Preparations Underway

Hello All:

The registration package for the March 12th & 13th event is attached. Included are the Saturday and Sunday schedules from last year. We will attempt to follow the same format this year. Once again, it all depends on registration.

The categories are the same as last year. The Novice Open is not confined to kids under 16 but open to all Beginners and if kids wish, they may compete at the Recreational or Competitive level. The Women’s Category is the only closed category. Women, however, may choose to compete in any of the open categories. All competitors may compete in one singles and one doubles event.

Saturday is Round-Robin play. We begin at 9:00 am sharp and go until done… usually 3 to 4 in the afternoon, Singles to start, followed by Doubles after lunch. Results from RR play help us with seeding for the Single Knockout play-downs on Sunday. Play-downs follow the same schedule… Singles first, followed by Doubles with Finals in the afternoon and Awards Ceremony starting at 3 pm… amazing trophies for the winners of each category and chocolate medallions for all podium finishers.

This is a fun event. Come prepared to play lots and eat well. Our kitchen will be serving up great island food. The prices are always reasonable. The tournament this year is a fundraiser for the Denman Seniors & Museum Society. This group operates and maintains the Activity Centre, the venue for our table tennis. The DSMS board supports our program and has installed two more ITTF Butterfly tables this year. We now have 6 high quality tables.

Return your registration and waiver ASAP and I’ll start building the categories and schedules. Please feel free to circulate the attached information to any interested players.

If you have any questions, give me a shout.

Best Regards,

Peter Marshall
