Again this year, DS&MS organized one of the food venues for the Christmas Craft Faire. Recognizing the declining interest in the ‘Soup Kitchen’ concept, this year we decided to expand the menu to include other choices.
The Craft Faire Kitchen, as it was dubbed, still sold soups, but added Heather Berrigan’s popular Steak and Mushroom pies, a delicious vegetarian frittata, salads, and deli sandwiches on Denman sourdough baguettes, freshly baked in our new commercial kitchen. In keeping with foodsafe guidelines, more of the food, especially anything containing meat, is being prepared on site.
This event is an important fund raiser for the society, and this year was exceptional. We netted close to $3,000, which will go a long way to meeting our annual fundraising target.
This year’s organizers were Sharon Clarke and Debbie Frketich, who would like to extend our appreciation to all our cook, servers and volunteers:
Heather Berrigan, Roxanna Mandryk, Carole Vosburgh, Herman deVries, Moira Webster, Selinda White, Nettie Pasieczka, Christine Oliver, Norm Palmer, Orla Haagerup, Simon Palmer, David Fairbairn, Bill Warren, Anna Haagerup, Ken Madson, Roberta Pagdin, Shelley Ord, Laura Thompson, Mary Jane Stewart, Judy Rudd, Jocelyn Lacroix, Fern Niedermoser, Veronica Timmons, Alan Stoddart, Judith Scruton, Dave Niedermoser, Doug Bell, Peter Marshall, Bob Whitehouse, and Brian Collins.
